How Loot Works
Why MS > OS first, then EPGP?
At launch, nearly everything that drops is an upgrade for someone, our roster is still settling, and nobody has any standing yet. Tracking points while people are still coming and going would skew the standings and slow down raid nights. So we start simple: main spec beats off spec, and we get the whole raid geared up fast.
Once the roster settles and WoW Forever's BiS lists are out, we switch to EPGP so we can price items properly. Then loot follows the effort you put in: show up, help the guild, earn priority. The weekly decay keeps anyone from hoarding points, and the standings are public, so every drop is fair, out in the open, and drama-free.
At Launch
MS > OS
Main spec rolls beat off-spec rolls. Simple and fair while everyone is leveling, gearing, and settling in.
Coming Later
EPGP
We're telling you now so nobody is surprised. You earn EP from your first raid, so the switch is fair to everyone who's been showing up.
EPGP in plain English
EP (effort points) is what you earn by showing up and helping. GP (gear points) goes up when you get loot. There's no bidding: every item has a set GP price.
Priority = EP ÷ GP
Say "need" on an item. The highest priority wins, and the item's GP is added to the winner's total, so the next win goes to someone else.
| Earn EP | Amount |
|---|---|
| Showing up to a raid | 25 EP |
| Arriving late | 12.5 EP |
| Each boss kill | 5 EP |
| Benched but present | Full EP |
| Guild bank deposits | See Earn EP |
| Recruiting new members | Up to 125 |
- Past effort counts, but not forever. 10% fades each week, so new raiders can catch up and nobody coasts on old points.
- Everyone starts at 50 GP, so new players aren't behind.
- No minimum EP. Trials can win gear on night one.
- Off-spec gear is free (0 GP) and doesn't hurt your priority. Order: MS > tank/heal OS > DPS OS.
- Officers may prioritize off-spec gear to help the team. They never touch main-spec loot.
Quick example
| Player | Before | Result | After |
|---|---|---|---|
| Aria | 250 EP / 50 GP = 5.0 | Wins a 10 GP item | 250 / 60 = 4.17 |
| Bram | 300 EP / 75 GP = 4.0 | Doesn't win this time | Next in line |
